THEORY OF CHANGE
Founder’s Message
As the founder of #racismstinks, I am pleased to present our theory of change document, which outlines our pragmatic approach to addressing racial issues in our communities. Our motto, “real not woke,” guides our strategy to foster genuine understanding and collaboration, with a particular focus on our partnerships with the police departments, mayor’s offices, and local cultural organizations and groups.
Purpose
To strengthen our country, we must heal America’s oldest wound, racism. The remedy will only come through the knowledge of bravery told in unity-centric education that emphasizes the progress our country has made in race relations and how we can utilize it to build upon in our community collaborations. America is a body of multicultural people who once didn’t have equal rights because of insignificant racial differences, but since 1868, with the ratification of the 14th Amendment, equal protections under the law have been granted to all Americans. In addition to the 14th Amendment, the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was signed into law prohibiting discrimination and segregation. Even with these great advancements, we have constantly picked at our wound, not allowing it to heal. It is our duty as Americans living in this time to heal the wound and save our country.
Vision
To significantly reduce racial tensions and disparities in our communities within the next five years by promoting unity-centric education, strengthening trust between community members and law enforcement, and hosting fun, family-friendly unity events.
Long-Term Goal
To create united communities across America where people of all backgrounds work together for our nation’s healing through mutual respect, honest dialogue, and practical solutions with strong support and participation from local law enforcement and city leadership.
Theory of Change Framework
1. Identify Real Issues
We focus on tangible, local problems related to racial disparities rather than abstract concepts. Our approach emphasizes gathering concrete data and personal stories from community members, law enforcement, and city officials to understand the actual challenges faced by different racial groups.
2. Key Strategies
Community-Police Partnership
- Organize fun, family-friendly, “real not woke,” healing events between community members and police officers
- Create safe spaces for honest, respectful, unity-centric conversations on healing race-related issues and policing
Education Through Experience
- Develop programs that allow people to experience and understand different perspectives, including police ride-alongs and cultural immersions for officers
- Promote cultural “Healing Exchange” events to foster genuine appreciation of our multicultural society
Collaborative Problem-Solving
- Form task forces with strategic membership to include police officers, city officials, and community leaders to address specific local issues regarding healing race relations (Respectful solution-minded approach/no accusations or divisive rhetoric will be tolerated)
- Implement the Home Safe: Traffic Stop training class co-taught by racismstinks and local Police Officers and measure impact on police-community relations
Partnership Building
- Collaborate with local businesses, schools, and government agencies to create a unified approach to racial healing through fun, family-friendly activities focused on “Collaboration for a better Nation”
- Engage law enforcement in community-building activities to improve relationships and trust
3. Action Steps
- Conduct joint community surveys with the police department to identify the most pressing policing concerns and racial issues
- Host monthly “HOME SAFE” training sessions where community members learn best practices for law enforcement interactions from law enforcement officers and racismstinks staff
- Organize cultural festivals and other celebrations celebrating the collective beauty of our community, with active participation from police officers and city officials
- Implement mentorship programs pairing individuals from different cultural backgrounds, including police officers as mentors
- Create a youth leadership program focused on bridging racial divides and improving understanding of law enforcement roles
4. Measuring Success
We will track our progress using practical, quantifiable metrics:
- Reduction in reported incidents of racial discrimination
- Increased participation in cross-cultural community events, including police-community activities
- Positive feedback from community satisfaction surveys regarding race relations and police interactions
- Decrease in use-of-force incidents and complaints against police officers
Key Partnerships
Local Police Departments
- Collaborate on community policing initiatives and training programs
- Joint development of policies to address racial bias in policing
- Regular participation of officers in community events and dialogues
- Collaborate on public communications to promote unity and address officer concerns in the “real not woke” format
Mayor’s Office
- Work closely with the mayor to align our initiatives with city-wide goals for racial healing
- Secure support and resources for community programs and police partnership efforts
- Collaborate on public communications to promote unity and address civic issues transparently in the “real not woke” format
Conclusion
At racismstinks, we believe that real change comes from genuine understanding and practical action. By focusing on tangible issues and fostering authentic connections between community members, law enforcement, and city leadership, we aim to create lasting improvements in racial harmony. Our “real not woke” approach ensures that we address the actual needs of our community, moving people away from extreme rhetoric to create meaningful change. Through our strong partnerships with the police department and mayor’s office, we are uniquely positioned to bridge gaps and build a more united, vibrant community for all.

BECOME AN ALLY
An ally is someone who is more than a non-racist person, an ally is a person who takes part in activities actively working to demolish racism. An ally is not a spectator, an ally knows they’re not a savior but a supporter taking direction from the directly effected. An ally takes proactive steps to challenge racism in their sphere of influence and beyond.
REMEMBER: IT TAKES US ALL
